Event Overview ATP is an only association of TV program production companies in Japan and is currently made up of 129 membership companies.
Every year, the ATP rewards excellent television programs, individuals, and groups, etc. with “ATP Awards.” This year will be 26th year since its establishment in 1984. The most unique characteristic of the ATP Awards are the fact that they are “awards for the creators chosen by the creators.” Currently active directors and producers serve as judges to reward programs created by other producers (who are usually their rivals) in a sincere manner. In Japan, the “award for the creators chosen by the creators” has gained a reputation as an award that distinguishes itself from other awards and this reputation has been established both in name and reality. The Award of Excellence and Top Award of Excellence in the three genres of “dramas,” “information and variety,” and “documentaries” are chosen by the creators themselves and the final grand prize is decided with a vote by all of the membership companies.
