Event Overview Established in 1985, TIFF is Japan’s largest international film festival. It is also Japan’s only international film festival to be endorsed by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
Continuing last year’s theme of ecology, TIFF recently inaugurated the Green Carpet Club. With the support of friends in the film industry, the Green Carpet Club seeks to promote the preservation of our natural environment under a sustainable society.
A variety of outstanding films will be screened during the festival, some of them for the first time. The films are divided into
sections of "Competition," "Special Screenings," "Winds of Asia-Middle East,” "Japanese Eyes," and "Natural TIFF.”
Our goal is to make the Festival an occasion for guests, movie fans, and supporting companies and organizations to meet at various events and conferences and enjoy the finest in contemporary films.
Theme in 2009 Films. The power to change our world.
