Chairperson Executive Committee of the Japan International Contents Festival 2008 |
Japan International Contents Festival (called “CoFesta”) will be held for the third time this year thanks to all of your great support and cooperation.
CoFesta began as a festival for transmitting Japanese content to the world while having events related to the content industry which Japan is proud of, such as video games, animation, manga, characters, broadcasting, music, and film, collaborate with one another. In planning CoFesta, we have aimed to bring together producers, creators, and company presidents who represent each content genre-- from both Japan and overseas—as well as provide matching for people-to-people exchanges that go beyond genres, cross-cutting business developments, international joint production, etc.
In the past two events of CoFesta, we were able to provide an opportunity for people involved with related industries from all over the world to experience many Japanese contents in a short period of time by holding many content events at the same time.
Last year, 11 original events, which fall into a brand new category, were held in addition to 15 official events and 10 partnership events which over 800,000 people participated in. In the official events, a marketing function through collaboration between different events was strengthened, and increasing number of visitors from abroad made international exchanges more active. As for the partnership events, content information from various regions in Japan was transmitted and we were able to make achievements such as promotion of content industry and revitalization of communities.
Beginning this year, we will be adding events concerning industries which are closely related to the content industry like fashion and design. While aiming to strengthen cross-cutting events that are not limited to a specific genre as well as further collaboration between events, I am hopeful that we will be successful in creating new content and content business opportunities. The enhancement of the expansion of Japanese brands and content, the activization of international exchanges between human resources in the content industry, and the transmission of information to Japan and overseas continue to be our important challenges. I feel it is important to continue to create opportunities which will allow us to accomplish these goals.
In this third year, we will hold this event by upholding the theme of “marvelous.” I would like to kindly request your continued support and cooperation.
